This is a very tall penstemon, reaching up to 5 or 6 feet tall. Palmer’s penstemon is cold hardy and heat and drought tolerant. The fragrant light pink and purple flowers are larger than most other penstemons, too. Butterfllies and hummingbirds find these flowers irresistible. The flowers are a favorite of native bees and bumblebees.
These have gone mostly dormant in my 1-gallon pots, but do show some live growth. These are vigorous plants and many of them flowered this year.
